One price includes your room, your meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), and the event. The cost is
$1,597 per person for a shared dorm room. (Payment plans available depending on sign up date.) The event is open to 85 people (and more if we can obtain more rooms). To participate in the event you must stay with us at the Schoodic Institute. Park will require a $25 entry fee per car for a week of use (persons 62 and over can obtain a national park lifetime pass for less, however advance arrangements may be required.)
Optional Gift
Tremendous resources and planning go into this event by your host. The event is priced to be affordable. Therefore we suggest a gift of a framed painting 9x12 or larger. This is NOT REQUIRED, is not payment or compensation and is not tax deductible. It is our desire to one day create a plein air museum, based in part on paintings from the people in these events. Paintings should not be shipped to Maine and should be shipped to a provided address in advance of the event.
How It Works
Each day we drive (or car pool) to specific painting locations (car required). We often paint as a group, though smaller groups and individuals often go off and paint on their own. We typically have one day where all people paint the same location and shoot a group photo. (Note magazine article may be written about event.) You may paint the park or local harbors and towns or anywhere in the area.
Attendees Should Be Mobile
To attend you should have the ability to be mobile. Some may wish to paint out of the backs of their cars, others will need ability to climb rocks or steep hills to hike to find painting locations. (Schoodic institute may be able to provide handicapped access. Please check with us if you have a need, which we will try to accommodate.) Your safety is our main concern, but we also want you to have fun and ability to participate.
Weather is Unpredictable
October in Maine is typically one of the best months, however you should come prepared for any weather, heat or cold, wind, rain or even snow.
Painters Must Provide Their Own Supplies
Art stores are a rarity. The closest is probably Bangor. You will need to bring your own solvent, and painting materials.
Transportation
We recommend you have a car or access to one, or someone to ride with.
Acadia is located on Mount Desert Island along the coast of Maine. The park is 264 miles from Boston and 50 miles from Bangor, Maine. There is an airport in Bangor and also one in near by Bar Harbor.

What is there to do in Acadia?
There are many miles of shoreline to explore, 125 miles of hiking trails, and 45 miles of carriage roads. Kayaking and canoeing are popular activities. Two beaches offer salt water or fresh water in which to swim, though it may be cold!
